The Daily Record has a simple nameplate but it does its' job of grabbing my attention. The color yellow is easy on the eyes and feel like the paper is an easy read.
Florida Today is a bit more elaborate in the design. I feel the nameplate has too much going on and distracts the reader from everything else on the page. I would put down the paper in the middle of seeing the nameplate.

I have to agree on the Florida Today nameplate, it is too playful and after seeing all of the circus colors it makes me want to trash it and not take it seriously.
