Pictures

News Photo:

This is a photo of children playing cricket next to the plot of land that Osama Bin Laden's security complex once stood on before it was demolished on Sunday. The belief is that Pakistan demolished the facility to rid of the symbol of security failure that haunted it. I love the image of children gleefully enjoying a game of cricket while the building is being destroyed in the background; it captures a hopeful new chapter in Pakistan's future.

Sports Photo:

The photo I chose for the sports image is of Chris Sharma, bonafide super-human of the climbing world. Known as both an incredible climber and route-setter, Sharma is always breaking the limits on what is conceived to be possible, and this photo depicts Sharma doing just that. This unnamed climb on an incredible arch-shaped rock jutting out of the sea is an astounding 65 feet above the water and features some of the most creative movements known to rock climbing. In the photo, the tiny speck that is Sharma gives a good perspective to the massive feature that he is climbing on. The high contrast of the arch against the vibrant, picturesque sunset creates a silhouette that gives the picture unrealistic effect.

The second photo is great. It has good contrast and an incredible focal point.
