I chose the Benton Daily Record and The Decatur Daily because I liked their different simplicities. They each use a similar font that is simple and not too decorative, but it is straightforward. I like the color usage in the Benton Daily Record because that's not that common in most newspaper nameplates. I feel like the simplicity of the nameplate isn't overpowering when looking at the front page, it just looks clean.
I got both of the mastheads from www.newseum.com.

I really liked your first example. The use of color really sticks out to me with it as well.
I like your second example. Clean, simple, decorative. Yet bold. I also like the play on color between the black and the orange.
